![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Regarding Sponge: the goal from what I understand is to be a alternative to bukkit/spigot with something that is also forge compatible. Thus most of what the community call mods will require the client to be modified as well. That said if any new blocks, items, fluids, or new gui screens are added by the mod, it will be necessary for the client to be modded as well and the new objects added so the client knows how to display and interact with them. Other mods such as my own (base edit mod to add 2 more strongholds and convert some of the villages to dark oak) can be applied to the server, and be used by non-modified clients since its only server side world generation/activities that are impacted. ![]() The server only mods are usually called plugins as that is the term bukkit/spigot use for the code using its API, bukkit/spigot is its self a modification to the Minecraft server. Since it must only send things to the client, that the client knows how to interpret. To be a bit more clear mods (defined here as a unofficial " Modification" or change to the Minecraft server or client) can be designed for server side only, however the scope becomes limited. ![]()
